Different versions of old Minecraft

In this video I go through the older versions of Minecraft that I'd recommend people to try out.

My build of Minecraft 1.2.5 with Forge and Modloader (for older systems, requires old Java runtime)

i agree that minecraft at its heart is a sandbox game. Thats why i like the old beta and alpha versions
infact i got so used to them that when on modern mc, i dont even use beds

i use betacraft with java 8 but you can also use openjdk, its just that i cant find any downloads for openjdk-8 (in debian linux repo)

1.2.5 was the best version of Minecraft as it had enough content to do a lot, but not too much to feel moddy. Beta 1.7.3 had nice terrain. 1.12.2 is the best for modding as it's a stable foundation. 1.3 was the buggiest update as that is when Mojang added LAN servers, so singleplayer worlds were considered to be multiplayer servers. But, without that update mods would be split into singleplayer and multiplayer.

Always had a fondness for 1.2.5. Seemed like it spanned a very long time that I, along with most servers, stayed on it.

agreed on 1.8.9. interesting thing about that version, there was never a 1.8.9 server release, so the latest version of 1.8 servers are 1.8.8, even if you connect with 1.8.9
