@wildgoose The guys who run VidLii are pretty stacked, so I don't think it's going to be a problem for a long time, but I would have limited it if I ran the site

@milkdrinker few sites actually make good use of it, most just wanna send you garbage, but I trust that VL wouldn't abuse it

These are all great demands. I wholeheartedly support it. I also have to say that Vidlii loads much faster nowadays. This is noticeable and I appreciate the work that has been done SO FAR.
1 small thing that's been bugging me that I would like to add to the list and I think would be a quick fix. If a comment is too long it overlaps the likes buttons. Vidlii, pls fix.

@bf3k Hell yeah.
small nitpick. you should include the number of the likes/dislikes in the word wrap too. https://files.catbox.moe/2p09iz.png

@shingo I generally dislike push notifications for non-critical events. Getting bombarded with notifications at random is extremely distracting to me, I prefer checking notifications at my own pace when I'm focused and ready to process them. Maybe I'm old fashioned but then again we're on vidlii so...
One feature I would really love though is subtitle support. I don't hear very well so this is pretty much at the top of my wishlist, I hope it gets implemented someday.

@guitaranhero it makes sense for site notifications if you want to see them, but of course if you just wanna check passively then it's not gonna be useful. I want it though

The RSS feed demand is my favorite by far. Being able to see what new videos people have uploaded on vidlii through RSS is a great idea since I won't even have to log in and I can see updates for that right alongside updates for other stuff in my RSS reader. Not to mention, as of writing this comment, RSS for youtube actually still works, you don't even have to use an invidious instance for that, so Vidlii should definitely have RSS since it would make Vidlii that much better on top of actually being able to use yt-dlp with it pretty consistently.

@SkibidiCoffee why the fuck does vidlii need 1 hour videos, i'ii prob never make a video thats an hour long besides my live streams, cutting them in parts for vidlii is a pain in the ass but its not that serious.

@chimaera an rss feed for entire site's newest videos would actually be useful since i could also set the feed reader to ignore certain channels so i dont have to fish through a bunch of Spanish anime reuploaders, or deal with the slow ass vidlii videos page. That would eliminate a lot of the issues RSS creates but I know people would rather just get specific channel feeds and then live in a closed box, never to discover new videos from other channels.

@ShyStudios Yes that is the best use case, I actually have the same thing set up for my blog. I was perplexed at first why you went from dabbing on it to being like hmm well this and that are good about RSS, but I take it you were just making fun of the people who just use it for constant updoots BUT IN MUH TERMINAL or something like that.

I'd suggest Vidlii to restrict the video file size more, which could also translate to limiting video resolution size. Video platforms usually choke after a while on a lack of server resources and if files are smaller, they'd have less to handle. It feels like many alternative platforms underestimate this and cease to exit after a couple of years or so.
