@RedstoneTrader actually, when you think about it today as of 2026,Sadly,sony aren't much better either,as they're getting just as Anti-Consumership as Modern Nintendo is,SOny is rediculously raising prices of Games with that new rise of policyship,The PS5 is still too expensive, and games are still costing too much over 70 dollars, and its funny to think Nintendo saved the video game market crash in 1983,but as of 2026,they have devolved themselves into the ultimate Sins of Anti-Consumership,the Nintendo Switch 2 is a complete and utter Failure which the damn thing costs too much, and they've gotten so gready to the point where you don't actually own the game cartridges which nintendo are forcing you to a terms of service of agreement to download a specific code in order to play the damn game,I hate to sadly admit it,but if they keep this up,Digital Gaming is gonna eventually gonna die, which is why nowadays im only gonna stick to emulation of classic games untile Sony and Nintendo

It's important to recognize that Nintendo's tight control over distribution of software for their hardware was a necessary evil at the time in order to prevent the flood of shovelware that the Atari 2600 was known for having. It didn't exactly do a good job, but it preserved an illusion of quality that was enough to revive the industry, so it worked well enough. The Famicom didn't have a lockout chip like the overseas versions did. Also Europe was primarily focused on home computing (i.e. Amiga) and less concerned with traditional consoles, so the crash never hit them quite as bad.
