Things you can own without the need of internet

Computers and the internet are not the problem, and abandoning them is not a practical solution. There is an entire movement https://www.fsf.org/ dedicated to providing people with access to computer software that they control. Hardware is a little more uncertain but not as big of a deal depending on what all you're doing with it. You can get by with a computer that's decades old most of the time, and if you can't you can usually hack the firmware of newer computers to remove any glowy bullshit from their chipset.

I have a degoogled phone with messaging that I self-host, a car from pre-2014 without a remote shutoff switch, and my computer runs a software environment (kernel, GUI, libraries) that are entirely at my whim. I got rid of systemd a couple months ago. There's nothing on my computer that lets anyone besides me tell it what to do. I have Blu-Ray cracking software and I have backups of everything I've ever played, watched or listened to ready to copy again and again.

Main concern I have is that video itself as a medium. You need a harddrive or CD or the internet with the video and a PC/phone to access it. Like with books. You can just look at it to consume but video you always need other technology to access it so it's way easier to lose. Even vhs tapes you need another device to access it.

Only solution to this I can think of is actual film because you can view the physical frames of a video on film without any equipment or electricity or you can make a simple projector that's easy to make to view it. Like I imagine historians in 2300 would have a hard time accessing our vidlii and YouTube videos because they don't have the devices that could read mp4 files meanwhile books. As long as they aren't damaged you can view them thousands of years from now perfectly fine if they stay in good condition

Honestly if the whole internet became id verification even vidlii i think people should just start having underground clubs where they share info by talking but also newspaper and maybe CDs for music and videos.
